2009- Slam Poetry
2009's outreach project was all about Slam Poetry, a lively form of performance poetry. Lichfield Arts worked with Lichfield District Council and North Lichfield Initiative to put on a series of workshops for the public and in schools in the lead up to Fuse.
The free public workshops also included rap and beatboxing sessions and all the workshops ended with inter-school and community 'Poetry Slams' (fast, furious, noisy knock-out performance contests with lots of audience participation) at Fuse on Sunday 12 July.
This is the first time this exciting form of poetry had been presented on this scale in Lichfield. Hundreds of pupils at twelve schools in the district were involved and we know that poetry will never seem quite the same again to those that were involved.
2008 - FuseZirque!
2008 saw many people of all ages involved in learning circus skills including juggling, diablo, hoops and poi. They went on to develop an amazing performance, based on the theme 'Chinese Elements', for Fuse and all in just 5 weeks!
2007 - The Funky Fuseliers
The 2007 outreach project was music based. Particpants made a range unusual musical instruments, learned to play them and then performed on the main stage at Fuse as 'The Funky Fuseliers'.
