Lichfield Fuse Festival
Lichfield Fuse Festival 2013 will be taking place in Beacon Park on the weekend of 12th – 14th July
The theme of the Festival this year is “Keep it Local” and as well as the many bands, musicians, dancers, poets and performers who will be taking part in the festival weekend the Fuse Outreach Project have been working in the community over the last few months to create the grand finale to Fuse 2013 on Sunday afternoon.
This year’s Outreach project, open to the community and to Lichfield District schools, has focused on those who wanted to have a go at singing for fun but have not had the confidence or the opportunity to do so.
The ultimate aim and lasting legacy of this project is to be the setting up of the first fully inclusive Community Choir in Lichfield District. Led by a choral facilitator from Sajja Arts, a total of 195 children and adults from the community, The Willows School, Chadsmead Primary Academy, Rocklands, St Peter’s & St Paul’s School and St Stephen’s Primary School have come together to form the FUSE Community Choir.
Six weeks of rehearsals, six weeks of learning words, and six weeks of fun will culminate in the FUSE Community Choir performing at the FUSE Festival in Beacon Park on Sunday 14 July.
Come along and hear us: The FUSE Finale is at 4.30pm on on Sunday 14 July 2013
Fuse is one of the largest free community arts festivals in the Midlands and is held each year in marquees in Beacon Park, Lichfield.
The festival attracts many thousands of people to watch professional artists, participate in arts and crafts activities and to take part in performance opportunities. Fuse aims to provide access to the Arts for everyone regardless of their ability to pay.
In addition the festival has an outreach programme where professional facilitators engage with young people and their families in schools and community groups throughout Lichfield District in the weeks leading up to the festival proper. This results in many people being given the opportunity to perform in public for the first time.
